SHJ Consultant: Jamaluddin Mohamed, Brunei
I was Director of Brunei Tourism Department from 1996-2012 and has been involved with numerous local, regional and international tourism events.
My company was formed on 5 October 2012 right after my retirement from the Brunei Government. For the past 30 years I have worked as a System Analyst with the Economic Planning Unit and then as an Officer to the Brunei Investment Agency, CEO to Royal Brunei Airlines and for the last 15 years as the Director of Tourism under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
My vision is to provide services for potential foreign investors to find suitable partnerships for their business ventures in Brunei Darussalam. My company has access to some of the best managed and locally owned companies in the country. These companies cover Mining, Manufacturing, Hotels and Restaurants, Travel Agencies, Construction, Information Technology, Financials, Fisheries, Agriculture and Education as well as other services sectors.
Our Tagline of ‘We Know Brunei Best’ shows our expertise and knowledge of our domestic market and we believe we have what it takes to bring about a greater chance of success for international investors partnering with our local entrepreneurs.
I have an extensive international network and I understand the importance of international relations as well as understanding each other’s culture and way of life. This is a crucial ingredient to a successful strategic partnership.
Finding a suitable partner can be very challenging. Many partnerships failed as a result of misunderstanding or lack of appreciation of each other’s culture.
My company can bridge that concern and bring about to a more successful partnership. We have collected some of the best run companies in Brunei Darussalam that are locally owned. We can therefore match the requirements of foreign investors with our local business enterprises. My company will take a small stake in the strategic alliances and use our international experiences and business knowledge to bring about a greater chance of success for all stakeholders.
I believe we have what it takes to satisfy the need of any potential foreign investors and would welcome any enquiry in setting up business roots in Brunei Darussalam.
For ICTP Members: My expertise in tourism and years of experience and contacts can be of use.
