Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia

I am a recently retired tourism academic with a 55 year career in the tourism industry almost equally divided between work as a practitioner and thirty years in academe. I was merely hoping to make a contribution to the discourse using my experiences and insights.

Although not exclusive my areas of interest/expertise are:

Destination Management
Heritage attractions
The Socio-cultural impacts of tourism
Participatory models of tourism development in emerging countries
Critical analyses of pro-poor tourism
Disaster recovery and tourism

FOR ICTP MEMBERS: Having been both a practitioner and a theorist I believe I can enrich the dialogue by framing important links between theory and praxis.
With the developing world destined to become the powerhouse of world tourism from both a supply and demand perspective, resource management and conservation will become increasingly critical issues.

I stand ready to offer insights to fellow members.

INTERESTED: I am interested in keeping abreast with industry perspectives.
